The CancerCare Manitoba Prevention and Screening Programs facilitate learning opportunities to increase your knowledge about cancer prevention and screening for breast, cervical and colorectal cancer. As a clinician or other healthcare professional, each of these opportunities will help you become familiar with the provincial screening guidelines, get up to speed on what's new in prevention and screening, and understand how BreastCheck, CervixCheck, and ColonCheck can support you in your practice.

Upcoming Training

Cancer Screening and CervixCheck Competency Training

The CancerCare Manitoba Screening Programs host training for healthcare providers (e.g. registered nurses, advanced practice nurses, licensed practical nurses, physicians, midwives, physician assistants or clinical assistants) in Manitoba seeking to:

  • initiate learning about cancer screening,
  • initiate or refresh learning and competency in cervical cancer screening, or
  • mentor colleagues to become competent in screening for cervical cancer.
Prior to registering for a training session or the wait list, CervixCheck requires healthcare providers have:
  1. the support of their clinical team, and
  2. have secured a clinical preceptor for post-training consultation. For more information about preceptorship click here (pdf)

Upcoming Training Sessions

Each training session is comprised of one full day and one half day of training in-person in Winnipeg. Dates of upcoming training sessions are as follows:

  • February 25, 2025
  • May 6-7, 2025

Those on the waitlist are invited to register before the registration is open to all other clinicians.
