Senior Scientist - Epidemiology, CCMR

The Health Services Research (HSR) platform consists of a multidisciplinary team of researchers based in the CancerCare Manitoba Research Institute (CCMR) that examines how and when Manitobans use health care across the cancer control continuum (from screening to survivorship). The HSR platform is led by Dr. Kathleen Decker, a Senior Scientist in the CCMR, and is supported by a team of biostatisticians, epidemiologists, health outcomes analysts, health economists, and programmers. Collaborators include CCMB clinicians, CCMR scientists, and researchers within Manitoba and across Canada. Health services research provides the foundation for progress, effectiveness, and value in health care. The HSR platform is supported by the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation (CCMF) as well as research grants from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and Research Manitoba.

The goal of the Health Services Research Platform is to conduct innovative HSR to identify and support the most effective ways to organize, manage, and deliver high-quality cancer services for Manitobans.

Our focus is on using population-based administrative and clinical databases, and patient-reported data to 1) identify factors and issues that impact the quality of cancer care and then 2) implement and evaluate health care innovations and new technologies to improve cancer care processes, health outcomes, inequities, sustainability, efficiency, and research processes.

Highlighted projects include factors and issues that impact quality of care, and the implementation and evaluation of health care innovations and new technologies.
