Manitoba Cancer Network

What is our purpose?

The Manitoba Cancer Network (MCN) is a province-wide network of caring professionals and community volunteers working collaboratively to increase awareness and improve access to information, services, and support on all types of cancer across the cancer continuum, from prevention and early detection to patient and family care, for all Manitobans.

Who is part of the Manitoba Cancer Network?

The Network’s Members-at-large is individuals working with people in Manitoba across the cancer continuum including representation from Regional Health Authorities, CancerCare Manitoba Departments, Community Engagement Liaisons, CCMB Community Contact Volunteers, and members of the First Nation, Metis, Inuit Community Partnership Committee.

The Network also works with Information Partners. These are national and provincial cancer organizations that have a focus on information and support for people with a specific type of cancer (i.e. Ovarian Cancer Canada, Lung Cancer Canada, etc.)

Leadership and coordination of the Manitoba Cancer Network are provided by CancerCare Manitoba Underserved Population Program.

What does the Manitoba Cancer Network do?

The Network fosters collaboration with members and Information Partners to better support patients and family/caregivers. It also facilitates member communication, information sharing, and professional development.

How can I get involved?

The Manitoba Cancer Network (MCN) has a couple of volunteer opportunities listed below. Be in touch to see if there is an opening in your area. If neither of these fit for you please contact us to discuss other opportunities to engage with us.

Become a Community Contact Volunteer

Do you want to volunteer to connect people in your community to cancer information and support? 
We are looking for individuals living in communities outside of Winnipeg to become Community Contact Volunteers. 
Individuals need to apply, provide references, be screened to be accepted to the program.  They then receive training and ongoing education to keep them informed and connected. 

Join this team of passionate, trustworthy volunteers dedicated to providing information and guidance that empowers and comforts.

Join the First Nations, Metis and Inuit Community Partnership Committee

If you are a health care provider or community member working in a First Nation, Metis or Inuit community, consider joining this committee that connects communities at a grassroots level. Members meet quarterly to bring forward ideas for community partnership initiatives and share information between communities and CancerCare Manitoba.
