Receiving a cancer diagnosis can be devastating for you and your loved ones. We know that a diagnosis of cancer affects not only the physical body, but also the emotional, social and spiritual aspects of a person and their loved ones.
Most people find that becoming knowledgeable about cancer and its treatment, understanding the various members of their health care team, and receiving support for the emotional and practical issues related to the cancer helps to ease their distress.
CancerCare Manitoba's Patient and Family Support Services has skilled professionals with many years of experience to help and support you and your loved ones in all these areas.
We want to make you aware of the many resources that are available to you. The links to the left give you a sense of the scope of these services - please take a little time to look around.

The image at the top of many of the pages in the Patient and Family Support Services section, is the central figure in an intricate silk batik banner that was created at the 2002 Ovarian Cancer Symposium held in Winnipeg. Patient and Family Support Services at CancerCare Manitoba partnered with Manitoba Artists in Health Care to create this work of art.
The title is "Strength" and was designed from images that were created by women in one of our support groups. Women living with cancer, their families, friends, caregivers and health care professionals all participated in painting the banner. We thank them for the use of this photograph on our website.
