Quality of Life

Especially with a diagnosis of metastases, quality of life concerns become uppermost. Not only physical factors, but also emotional, spiritual and relational matters, take focus in a new way.

Treatment regimens can produce remission and/or slow the progression of the disease. In some cases, however, this means that individuals are in treatment pretty much steadily for years.

Pain and symptom management, relaxation techniques, guided visualization, meaningful relationships, expressive arts groups, certain complementary therapies and informed support all of these make a difference in coping and decision-making for those living with metastatic breast cancer.

Here at the Breast Cancer Centre of Hope, we can put you in touch with services and other resources to help you maintain a reasonable quality of life. From time-to-time we offer special quality of life programming especially for those with metastases. Certainly, our Volunteer Program is open to people with advanced disease who wish to make a contribution that way.

You may discover that one of the most important things you can do for yourself after a metastatic diagnosis is to make contact with others dealing with the same diagnosis. This is something the Peer Support team at Breast Cancer Centre of Hope can facilitate. We can also let you know about support groups and special events just for individuals with metastases.

So, give us a call and allow us to offer information, support and referral appropriate to your circumstance.
