Job Summary:

CancerCare Manitoba treats approximately 3000 radiation therapy patients per year. We operate eight linear accelerators including a state-of-the-art EDGE linear accelerator dedicated to stereotactic radiation therapy (with patient surface tracking, 6D couch, HDMLC, aS1200 EPID, and Calypso beacon tracking technologies) which is operated in collaboration with the Winnipeg Health Sciences Centre. Other advanced equipment includes three CT simulators, a PET/CT simulator (at the Winnipeg Health Sciences Centre), an HDR brachytherapy unit, a multi-workstation treatment planning system (including 3DCRT, IMRT, and RapidArc), a prostate seed implant program, and an orthovoltage unit. We also support an intra-cranial Radiosurgery Program collaboratively with the adjacent Winnipeg Health Sciences Centre, which was the first in Canada to employ a Leksell Gamma Knife. We operate one of Canada's longest running radiation oncology physicist residency programs (CAMPEP accredited since 2009) as well as a CAMPEP-accredited medical physics graduate program which is affiliated with the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Manitoba. Our research activities include theoretical and experimental studies of dosimetry using electronic portal imaging devices, development of a radioactive-source-based CT imaging system, and multi-objective optimization for treatment planning.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Graduate degree in Medical Physics
  • Must have intermediate computer skills - MS Office, Internet, keyboarding, data entry
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Must demonstrate attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Must have strong initiative and sense of responsibility
  • Flexible working hours
  • Must hold a satisfactory employment record


Preferred:
  • CAMPEP accredited degree (Commission on the Accreditation of Medical Physics Education Programs)
  • Graduate degree in Radiotherapy Physics
